Dental Crowns in Greenwood
If you break or crack your tooth or it decays, it may be necessary to get a dental crown for that tooth. A dental crown will protect the tooth by providing cover for its entire visible surface. Before getting a dental crown, it is important to first determine that your tooth cannot be repaired using more conservative procedures. We will be happy to help you make that decision by talking to you about your teeth and your suitability for getting a crown.
Your procedure to have a crown fitted over your tooth may be completed in either one or two appointments. For the one-appointment procedure, we trim the damaged tooth removing the decay or fractures so that there is room to fit the crown over it. We will create the crown in our office with our CEREC crown making machine, and finally, we will cement it into place. This is how we make the vast majority of crowns at our office. For the two-appointment procedure, we will make a mold of the shaped tooth and send it to the lab, where it will be used to create your crown. We will also place a temporary crown for you until your permanent crown comes back from the lab. The permanent crown will be cemented during your second appointment.
We will provide information on caring for your teeth and crown to keep them in good condition.
